London is a shopper’s paradise. Its markets
are world-famous. Portobello
Market on a Saturday is fantastic place to find antiques
and quirky fashions. Visit Spitalfields
Market on a Thursday if you want vintage clothing & antiques;
on a Friday for fashion & art or on a Sunday for absolutely everything
including a fantastic food market.
If fashion is your passion, you
will London a treasure trove. From cheap and cheerful high street
clothes to haute-couture, from vintage pieces to tailor-made outfits,
you can find it all here.
You can fully prepare yourself before
you hit the shops by looking at Urban
Path, an online guide to nice things in London or reading Time
Out’s guides to the best:
• department
stores
• women’s
boutiques and high-street
stores
• men’s
fashion shops
• vintage
clothing shops
•
lingerie stores
• shoe
shops
• jewellery
and accessory stores.
Clothes are not the only thing that you can buy in
London (although this might be news to some of its more fashion-mad
inhabitants). You can also find bookstores,
electronic
and photographic shops and sports
stores. If you are an art lover, you really must
visit the art
galleries and antique
stores while you are here.
If you need help navigating your
way from shop to shop, you might find it helpful to look at Street
Sensation, a street-by-street guide to the shops.
Groceries are not the most glamorous
holiday shopping but you will probably need to stock up on food and
supplies occasionally. We will tell you about the local supermarkets
when you enquire about one of our flats. Alternatively, you do your
grocery shopping online at Tesco’s
or Waitrose and they
will delivery your order to your flat. If you need to visit a pharmacy,
you can find a Boots
the Chemist shop in most places.
